Transport Bill and railway land acquisition

Summary

Deputy McGrath raises alleged abuse of compulsory-purchase powers affecting a farmer near a Tipperary railway junction while asking about the Transport (CIE Borrowings) Bill. The Ceann Comhairle redirects the local issue, and the Taoiseach confirms the Bill was published in the Seanad and will come to the Dáil afterward.

I wish to ask the Taoiseach about the Transport (CIE Borrowings) Bill. I am concerned about a situation in Tipperary regarding junction XC-147 on the Cork to Dublin railway line.

That is a matter for a parliamentary question, if ever there was one.

Comment on this

I believe the compulsory purchase order powers have been abused, in that the rights of a farmer to hold on to his property have been abused.
