Cybercrime and mediation legislation

Summary

Bernard Durkan asks about the Cybercrime and mediation Bills; mediation legislation is due next year, while no cybercrime publication date is set but efforts are under way to accelerate it.

Bernard Durkan Deputy Bernard J. Durkan Fine Gael

What is the current position of the Criminal Justice (Cybercrime) Bill to comply with the Council of Europe's decision on cyber crime? What is the position on the promised mediation Bill? To what extent have discussions progressed at the Cabinet and when is the Bill likely to be brought before the House? When can we expect it to be signed into law?

Comment on this

The mediation Bill is due next year. I do not have a date of publication for the Criminal Justice (Cybercrime) Bill, but I discussed it yesterday with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and we will try to bring it forward as quickly as possible.
