Emergency Works Scheme Applications

147. Deputy Tony McLoughlin asked the Minister for Education and Skills the status of an application for emergency works made by a school (details supplied); if his attention has been drawn to the serious nature of the damage involved to the roof in question and the importance of this damaged room to this small school; if his attention has been further drawn to the fact that the damaged roof is an asbestos product which further heightens the seriousness of the need for a replacement in view of its close proximity to children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Joe McHugh Minister for Education and Skills Fine Gael

My Department has no record of receiving an application for funding for the project in question under my Department's Emergency Works Scheme (EWS) from the school to which the Deputy refers.

The Deputy may wish to be aware that the Emergency Works Circular and Application Form are both available on my Department's Website www.education.ie
