National maternity hospital decision process

Summary

Deputy Connolly asked when Government would decide on the hospital and whether Cabinet had effectively already decided before Dáil scrutiny. The Taoiseach said the board had decided, Government would take the formal decision, and it would then be brought before the House.

The board has made a decision. That is my understanding. When a board meets, there can be people with different perspectives but when a board decides, a board decides. That is how boards work.
