Commentary on murder sentencing
Patrick Costello tried to raise delay in sentencing in a murder case and the need for legal change. The Ceann Comhairle repeatedly ruled the matter out of order as it concerned an active court case and sentencing, and the Deputy’s interventions were not heard.
This morning, the sentencing of the 17-year-old convicted of the murder of Urantsetseg Tserendorj was delayed again. This was another in a series of ongoing delays drawing out the agony for the family of the victim and the family of the young man, who has been convicted-----
