Deputy Thomas Pringle asked the Minister for Justice her views on the Council of Europe CM/Rec(2024)4, which impresses on Member States the importance of the need for the criminal justice system to identify, address and take measures to eliminate any institutional bias and discrimination in order to combat impunity, increase the trust of victims in that system and improve the experiences of those who engage with the system (details supplied); the steps she is taking to identify and address institutional bias and discrimination in the system, given that institutional racism and racial profiling were found to be present across the Irish criminal justice system in a project; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
