Invalidity Pension (IP) is a payment for people who are permanently incapable of work because of illness or incapacity and for no other reason and who satisfy the pay related social insurance (PRSI) contribution conditions.
My Department received an application for IP from the person concerned on 04 December 2023. Based on the information supplied, it was refused on the grounds that the medical conditions for the scheme were not satisfied. Notification of the decision issued to the person in question on 13 December 2023 informing him of this decision, the reasons for it and of his right of review and appeal.
The IP claim for the person concerned has been reviewed twice to take account of additional medical submitted by him for his claim. However, a Deciding Officer (DO) decided on 22 April 2024 and again on 06 June 2024 that the original decision stands following both reviews.
The person referred to has appealed the decision to refuse his application to the Social Welfare Appeals Office and his file along with a submission on behalf of the DO was sent to that office on 19 June 2024.
I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
