Stephen Donnelly Minister for Health Fianna Fáil

Health research drives innovation in healthcare services and is the bedrock upon which we can build a healthier future for Ireland and enable better patient outcomes. Ensuring that appropriate consent and data protection mechanisms are in place is central to conducting effective and ethical health research. My Department in conjunction with other relevant agencies continue to assess and review health research activities including within the context of the issues raised by Deputy Naughten so as to ensure we meet this objective.
