Responsibility for the coordination of the implementation of the National Social Enterprise Policy for Ireland is primarily a matter for the Department of Rural and Community Development.

I am advised that Údarás na Gaeltachta, which comes under the aegis of my Department, funds a network of 33 community development organisations that operate as social enterprises. The following is a breakdown of the operational grants provided by Údarás na Gaeltachta for these organisations from 2021 to 2024.

Additional project-specific Social Enterprise supports were introduced by Údarás na Gaeltachta in 2023, a capital support fund and a project development fund supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development. In 2023, a total of €144,283 was allocated in funding under the capital support fund and €34,920 was allocated under the project development fund.

The Creative Ireland Programme, supported by my Department, funds a wide variety of bodies and organisations via its grant funding mechanisms. While some social enterprises may be in receipt of funding, the Creative Ireland Programme does not categorise the recipients of funding.
