Deputy Paul Donnelly asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media when she last met the chairperson and or the executive director of the Abbey Theatre; the issues discussed at the meeting; and when the next meeting with the chairperson and or executive director will take place. I met with the Chair of the Abbey, Mr John Cronin, on 17 September 2024, engaging in a broad discussion on the role of the chair, governance and the strategic direction of the Abbey Theatre. Senior officials from my Department also met with the Chair on 2 October. A date for a future meeting has not yet been scheduled.
