Grant Payments

219. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Transport if he is aware of the wheelchair-accessible taxi grant scheme portal’s technical failure which left many applicants unable to apply for the grant; if he will ensure that drivers who were unable to access the scheme this time are prioritised in the next round of applications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Eamon Ryan Minister for Transport

The regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry, including the administration of the wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) grant scheme, is a matter for the independent transport regulator, the National Transport Authority (NTA), under the provisions of the Consolidated Taxi Regulation Acts 2013 and 2016. I have no role in the day-to-day operations of the SPSV sector.

Accordingly, I have referred your question to the NTA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you have not received a response within 10 working days.
