Collapse in Dublin bus shelter construction
Roderic O’Gorman questioned the sharp fall in new Dublin bus shelters; the Taoiseach attributed responsibility partly to statutory agencies and said funding was not lacking. The sitting then concluded with a visitor’s welcome and a procedural announcement.
In 2024, 37 new bus shelters were built across Dublin city. In 2023, the figure was 30 and even in 2022, post Covid-19, 23 new bus shelters were built. In 2025, three new bus shelters were built across Dublin. We can understand why people are a bit sceptical about the housing targets with a construction record like that. Will the Taoiseach ask the Minister for Transport why the Government's ability to deliver new bus shelters has collapsed in the last year?

I will talk to the Minister for Transport, but I presume, as the Deputy knows, that the statutory agencies have a significant role in terms of bus shelters.

There is no shortage of money in the bloody system. Come on. Dáil Éireann should not have to discuss the provision of bus shelters.

That concludes Leaders' Questions. Before I move to the next business, I welcome the former CEO of PepsiCo Ireland, Mr. Frank O'Mahony, who is in the Gallery. That is from Deputy O'Sullivan. Mr. O'Mahony is very welcome.
This is a very important time for a new Deputy, Deputy Eoghan Kenny, who will introduce his very first Private Members' Bill.
