Short-term lets legislation

Summary

Deputy Collins seeks statements from the Enterprise Minister on short-term lets, planning uncertainty and the impact on rural communities; the Taoiseach responds sceptically.

We need the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment to come to the Dáil for statements on the short-term lets legislation which will come before the Dáil. At last week's committee meeting, which was held in private, officials from the Departments of tourism and of planning would not answer in public as to what is happening. They were all over the place in relation to the planning aspect of this legislation. The Minister cannot shy away from this and let Airbnb and the short-term lets in rural communities in with this planning debacle that is going on at the moment. We need the Minister to come before the Dáil and to make a statement. It is quite simple. That is all we need to do. Do not say "No". The Taoiseach needs to say "Yes".

I would be worried if we brought clarity to Deputy Michael Collins's campaign-----
