Ballyhaunis An Post delivery unit
Deputy Lawless asks the Taoiseach to protect Ballyhaunis’s An Post delivery service unit, which supports local businesses after the Fastway liquidation. The Taoiseach will consult the Minister responsible for An Post.
Ballyhaunis is a fantastic town for commerce and trade. Despite the loss of banks and other services, it has remained a very strong town for employment. It is a wonderful town. There is a proposal, however, to move the An Post delivery service unit in Ballyhaunis. It is a fundamentally important resource for the community and local commerce. It allows businesses to trade and export their products. The liquidation of the Fastway company recently has increased the importance of the An Post delivery service unit in Ballyhaunis. I ask the Taoiseach to intervene to protect the delivery service unit in Ballyhaunis. This is a State agency that is owned by the State. This is a town that has seen the loss of services like banks and other financial institutions like the credit union going part-time in recent days. There are jobs at stake and businesses that rely on this service. Will the Taoiseach intervene and protect the An Post delivery service unit in Ballyhaunis?
