518. The town of Enniscorthy has a long history of flooding, including in 2000 and 2015. Storm Chandra recently caused property damage and disruption in the town of Enniscorthy and I saw at first hand the devastation that the flood caused to businesses, residents and the wider community.

The Government immediately responded by introducing a range of supports for those affected by the flood. While work is continuing to progress on a flood relief scheme for Enniscorthy, Wexford County Council was invited to set out a range of interim measures that may help mitigate the impact from future flood events, pending the completion of the main scheme.

I met with the Chief Executive Wexford County Council and some other members of the Council's senior management team on 2 March to discuss and review potential interim measures for Enniscorthy. The Council is preparing a detailed costed business case for proposed interim measures. When received, it will be assessed by the OPW to inform a decision on those interim measures to be progressed. My objective is to have interim measures delivered over the coming months.
