There are a large volume of pension appeals received under Circular 16/2020 currently under consideration, giving rise to the processing time for finalising each appeal being longer than anticipated.
Pension appeals are, in general, progressed in the order in which they are received and my Department is committed to ensuring that all valid pension appeals received under Circular 16/2020 are thoroughly examined in a fair and impartial manner.
While there are other open pension appeals on hand which pre-date the appeal referred to by the Deputy, these appeals are being progressed concurrently and are under active consideration and includes the pension appeal referred to in the Deputy’s question.
A detailed determination explaining the outcome of the pension appeal will be communicated directly to the appellant upon completion of the appeal process and it is currently expected such a determination will issue over the course of the Summer.
