567. Deputy Máire Devine asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide an update in relation to the proposed eight-unit women's refuge in County Laois; if an application for funding was made before the 1 March deadline; if so, which housing body has made the application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. James Browne Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Fianna Fáil

Following an Expressions of Interest process coordinated by Cuan, the State agency for Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Tuath Housing Association has been identified as the Approved Housing Body partner to advance the new women's domestic violence refuge in Laois.

Per guidance issued by my Department in January 2026, the project will proceed via the new Single Approval Process. My Department is working closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the project progresses without further delay. I expect an application for funding to be submitted to Laois County Council and, thereafter to my Department, in the coming weeks.
