The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. It works in over 150 countries to achieve three main goals by 2030: to end preventable maternal deaths, eliminate the unmet need for family planning, and stop gender-based violence and harmful practices.
UNFPA is a longstanding and highly valued partner of Ireland’s international development cooperation programme. Our partnership with UNFPA is in line with the Government's policy for international development, A Better World. It recognises that access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services is fundamental to transforming women's health outcomes and is a prerequisite for women’s empowerment and gender equality, and therefore for sustainable development.
Information is provided below on Ireland’s funding to UNFPA from 2019 to 2024. Details of Ireland’s Official Development Assistance are published in our Annual Reports. Confirmed data for 2025 will be available in the coming months and data for 2026 will be available next year.
