Tipperary ETB employed one instructor to deliver the Commis Chef apprenticeship in both 2025 and to-date in 2026, this is set out in the table below.

The commis chef apprenticeship programme is part of the national apprenticeship system. Off-the-job training provision for such programmes are delivered through Education and Training Boards (ETBs) and higher education institutions.

Apprenticeship delivery has been supported and developed by significant investment in recent years. Funding for apprenticeship delivery has more than doubled since the formation of my department - from approximately €142 million in 2020 to €415 million in 2026. This highlights the Government’s commitment to expanding capacity, improving access, and supporting skills needs across the economy, including in the hospitality sector.
