Disability Issues

362. Deputy Noel McCarthy asked the Minister for Transport the current vehicles that are eligible for the disability toll exemption scheme; if his Department is giving any consideration to adding private vehicles where the passenger has a physical or mental disability to the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Darragh O'Brien Minister for Transport Fianna Fáil

The Disability Toll Exemption Scheme (DTES), established by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) allows disability modified vehicles that qualify for exemption under the Drivers and Passengers with Disabilities tax relief Scheme (known as the DDS) to be exempt from charges on Irish toll roads. The DDS is the responsibility of my colleague, the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance. TII will implement through the DTES any exemptions granted under the DDS. The Deputy may wish to raise this matter with the Tánaiste.
