Officials of the Pension Unit of my Department are familiar with the case in question.
The query relates to a period of time in which the member carried out volunteer work abroad. In order for this service to be considered pensionable, the individual must be a member of the pension scheme at the time the voluntary work is undertaken, and the relevant organisation had agreed to fund the cost of making the service pensionable. Unfortunately, the individual concerned was not a member of a pension scheme at that time and therefore this service cannot be considered for the pension purposed.
Officials from my Department will contact both, the person concerned, and their current employer to clarify the matter.
