Kenneally commission report

Summary

Deputy Smith called for a debate on the Kenneally commission report, especially the absence of an offence of misconduct in public office and wider ethics issues.

We are reeling from the report of the Kenneally commission, which was released this morning. There are a number of serious outcomes from that. Will the Taoiseach give serious consideration to a debate on one particular aspect, the absence of an offence of misconduct in public offence, an issue outlined in the commission's report? It is not the only thing to come out of the report but is an issue of ethics in public office that this Government has been dragging its heels on.
