168. Deputy Noel McCarthy asked the Minister for Defence the number of Defence Force personnel currently stationed at Kilworth Camp, Kilworth, County Cork, by rank; her plans to increase the operational capacity or scope of the camp; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [43589/26]

Thank you Deputy for the question.  The Brigade Training Installation at Lynch Camp Kilworth and associated training areas are used for a variety of military training evolutions; including pre-deployment training for overseas personnel, weapons and vehicle training, tactical training and reserve personnel training.

The Deputy will appreciate that for security and operational reasons it would not be appropriate to comment further in relation to DF personnel dispositions at a particular location.  The Deputy may wish to note that a new Firing Range in Kilworth was completed in 2022 at a cost of €0372m. The proposed upgrade to the existing Wastewater Treatment plant is in the design stage.
