Under the provisions of EU Council Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009, the statutory requirement to publish the names of designated Union Inspectors extends to members of the Irish Defence Forces acting in their capacity as sea-fisheries protection officers. I am advised that the military authorities have no personal security concerns regarding the mandatory publication of this information. The list contains solely the persons name and provides no further information as to the occupation nor appointment of an individual. Furthermore, this roster is multi-agency in scope, encompassing personnel from various government bodies assigned as Union Inspectors.
