The person concerned was in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance. His entitlement was reviewed and his means were found to be in excess of the statutory limit with effect from the 30/4/2026.

This decision was reviewed today the 15/06/2026 and the decision remains unchanged.

The person's means is capital derived the sale of a property, in October 2025. Where a person sells their home, a disregard of €337,500 is applied to the proceeds and any balance is assessable as capital. In this case when the balance of proceeds is assessed, the person's weekly means are calculated at €1026, which is in excess of the personal rate of €244 for 2025 and €254 for 2026.

A review letter together with an up to date means assessment has been issued to the person concerned.

If the person concerned is not satisfied with the decision the option to appeal directly to the Social Welfare Appeals Office is open to them.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
