Ireland's automatic enrolment retirement savings scheme, MyFutureFund commenced on the 1st January 2026. All elements of the system are operating as planned. Both the employer and participant website portals are fully functional and there is a very high level of compliance by employers registering for the scheme and remitting their contributions. Since the 1st January, based on analysis of payroll data from the Revenue Commissioners, over 800,000 employees have been automatically enrolled in MyFutureFund. These employees work for about 113,000 employers. In addition, more than 9,000 employees have applied to join the scheme voluntarily. To date over €320m n contributions have been collected for investment. This includes employer and State top-ups meaning participants have already seen the savings in their account increase by about 133% over and above their own personal contribution.
It is too early at this stage to comment on emerging trends however for the benefit of the Deputy some data about the participant cohort (County, Gender and Age) as of the 28 April 2026 when an analysis was last done is set out below. The Deputy should be advised that number of participants then was 806,015.
I hope this clarifies matters for the Deputy.
