In line with Section 12(4) of the Land Development Agency Act 2021, the Land Development Agency (LDA) is independent in the performance of its function including in relation to the acquisition of private land from the market. As such, information on the price paid by the LDA for private land acquisitions is not held nor collated by my Department.

However, I welcome the news that the LDA has acquired this site at Jamestown Industrial Estate, a significant urban regeneration site, with the potential to deliver 600 new homes, along with commercial and community facilities.

As a key partner in the Government’s Housing Plan, Delivering Homes, Building Communities, the LDA is continuing to activate and secure the delivery of starter and social homes both on the State’s own lands, together with delivery of housing on market acquired land. When added to sites already acquired to date from the market, there is the collective potential to deliver over 13,000 new homes.

Finally, it may be helpful to note that arrangements have been put in place by my Department to ensure that public bodies under its aegis have a dedicated email address in place, to facilitate the provision of information directly to members of the Oireachtas. In this regard, the LDA can be contacted by emailing oireachtas@lda.ie for further details on this matter.
