The social housing build target for 2026 is 10,200 homes. Building on the record delivery of 9,088 social homes in 2025, there is a strong approved pipeline of projects in place for 2026 delivery, which suggests, subject to projects being satisfactorily progressed on site by LAs and AHBs, that the 2026 target can be achieved.

The latest Social Housing Construction Status Report (CSR) shows that there were 22,949 homes at various stages of the design and procurement processes nationally at the end of 2025, including 9,703 homes on site. The Q1 2026 CSR is due to be published by my Department at the end of this month and will provide an update on the social housing pipeline.

In 2026, over €9 billion is being provided in capital investment for Housing, inclusive of Land Development Agency investment and Housing Finance Agency (HFA) lending. The 2026 capital funding is supplemented by over €2 billion in current funding to address housing needs.

A key priority for this capital investment is on the delivery of social homes, with almost €3.03 billion in Exchequer funding available to support social housing delivery through capital programmes in 2026.

The Government is committed to maintaining the momentum in social housing delivery with a key focus of the social housing programme to increase the number of new-build homes.

The projected output in 2026 across the full range of Housing programmes, including the social housing delivery programmes, is set out in the 2026 Revised Estimates Volume (REV) is which is available at the following link:
