Olympic Games

434. Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport whether an organisation (details supplied) has provided a full breakdown of expenditure related to the most recent Olympic Games; whether it is correct that staff in the organisation chose accommodation outside of that provided by the Olympic Federation at an additional cost to the organisation; and whether he will require publication of the full Olympic expenditure report. Charlie McConalogue Minister of State at the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport Fianna Fáil

Sport Ireland, which is funded by my Department, is the statutory body with responsibility for the development of sport, increasing participation at all levels and raising standards. This includes the administration and distribution of high performance funding.

Accordingly, I have referred the Deputy's question to Sport Ireland for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to inform my office if a reply is not received within 10 days.
