Deputy Ged Nash asked the Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation if a civil servant who is a member of the Civil Service spouses' and children's contributory pension scheme may nominate or otherwise register a cohabiting partner for survivor pension purposes; the process to record a qualified cohabitant in advance of a survivor pension claim arising; whether, following the judgment in a case (details supplied) a qualified cohabitant may be entitled to a survivor's pension under the scheme; if he intends to review the scheme rules and administrative procedures in light of that judgment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
