Citizenship Applications

500. Deputy Shane Moynihan asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration if he is aware of a case (details supplied) involving a citizenship applicant who paid the €950 certification fee through the online citizenship portal, but due to an apparent technical issue the application remained in draft status after payment was processed; if the payment has been received by his Department; if he will arrange for the application to be progressed without requiring a second payment; and if he will provide an update on the applicant's case, given the applicant responded within the 28-day deadline set by his Department but has been unable to complete the process due to the portal issue. The naturalisation application referred to by the Deputy has been approved and is listed as awaiting an invitation to attend a Citizenship Ceremony.

The Citizenship Division have confirmed receipt of the €950 certification fee.

I can advise the Deputy that planning is underway for citizenship ceremonies to be held later this year. Invitations will be issued at the earliest opportunity.
