James Browne Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Fianna Fáil

Applications for a Local Authority Home Loan are made through the individual Local Authorities and the final decision on loan approval is a matter for the relevant local authority and its Credit Committee on a case-by-case basis.   Decisions on all housing loan applications must be made in accordance with the Regulations establishing the scheme and the Credit Policy that underpins the scheme, in order to ensure prudence and consistency in approaches in the best interests of both borrowers and the lenders, the local authorities.   Information on the number of applications for a Local Authority Home Loan made to local authorities in Cork, the number of applications refused or the average processing time for these applications is not collated by my Department.

The Rebuilding Ireland Homeloan has been closed to new applications since 4th January 2022 when the Local Authority Home Loan was introduced.
