James Browne Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Fianna Fáil

The Dublin RAS Pilot scheme was officially launched on 22 June 2026, and will operate for three years. Its purpose is to test whether enhanced supports can increase property owner participation in the Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS) and make additional homes available to households with a long term social housing need.

As the pilot has only recently commenced, it will take time to evaluate its operation and impact. My Department will continue to work with the four Dublin local authorities through the Dublin RAS Pilot Working Group to monitor the pilot's implementation and impact including, the number of properties secured, property owner participation, housing outcomes, costs and value for money. The evidence gathered as the pilot progresses will inform any next steps.
