The Climate Action Summer Works Scheme (CASWS) enables school authorities to undertake small-scale building works on a devolved basis, typically during the summer months or at other times that avoid disrupting the operation of the school. The scheme operates on a multi-annual basis across a number of categories of works including replacement projects.

The Department can confirm that an application was received from the school in question and approval was granted to proceed to tender. Following completion of the tender process, schools are required to submit tender documentation to the Department for review prior to final approval. This review ensures compliance with technical, procurement and governance requirements and supports the appropriate management of public funds.

The school subsequently submitted its tender report; however, the supporting technical documentation required for assessment was not included. The Department requested this information on 9 July 2026 and it was received on 13 July 2026.

Following a review of the documentation, the Department's technical team sought further clarification from the school and its consultant regarding outstanding matters. These clarifications are currently awaited. Once received and assessed, the Department will be in a position to progress the application.
