My Department publishes comprehensive programme-level statistics on a quarterly basis on social housing delivery activity by local authorities in each local authority including Cork City and Cork County Councils. These statistics provide delivery data at local authority level, including data on housing delivery vs targets. Data is available to the end of Q1 2026 and is published on the statistics page of my Department’s website at the following link: www.gov.ie/en/collection/6060e-overall-social-housing-provision/ .

In the period 2020-2025, Cork City Council delivered 2,161 new build social homes against a target of 2,193. This performance is continuing with a strong pipeline in place for the coming years. In the same 5 year period, Cork County Council delivered 1,704 new build social homes against a target of 2,501.

Under Delivering Homes, Building Communities, the Government is targeting the delivery of 72,000 new social homes by 2030. The plan seeks to significantly scale-up delivery of social homes and includes key measures to support local authorities to achieve this. My Department is committed to working with Cork City and Cork County Councils to support them in delivering social housing in the coming years.
