I propose to take Questions Nos. 2284, 2289 and 2290 together.

The government is committed to building stronger, safer communities, and strengthening An Garda Síochána is at the core of that. This is reflected in the unprecedented allocation of over €2.74 billion to An Garda Síochána in Budget 2026. This funding allows for the continued recruitment of Garda members and staff.

Three Garda recruitment campaigns have been held in the last 18 months with over 15,000 people applying to enter An Garda Síochána.

206 new Gardaí attested at the Garda College in Templemore on 24 July, the third Garda attestation this year. A further 193 Gardaí attested on 1 May 2026, and 167 attested in February 2026. Overall, 619 probationer Gardaí attested in 2025.

An Garda Síochána have advised there are currently over 604 Garda recruits undergoing the training programme at the Garda College. The most recent intake of Garda recruits, which numbered over 200, entered the Garda college on 27 July. This intake brings the number of Garda trainees that have entered the college since 2022 to nearly 3,000. Garda recruit intakes continue to enter the Garda College every 11-12 weeks.

The number of graduates expected to pass out of Templemore this year is based the on three attestations this year so far which totals 566, and the February intake of 215 which is due to attest in October this year. On that basis, I am advised by the Garda authorities that between 770 and 780 trainees, approximately will attest this year.

An Garda Síochána publishes information in relation to the allocation of Gardaí nationally. This includes a breakdown of the number of Gardaí by rank assigned to each Garda Division as at 30 June 2026, the latest date for when figures are available.

The information for 2026 can be found at the following link:

The Deputy should select the statistics for 2026, June 2026 and then select the file titled ‘Garda Members by Division District Station" to access a breakdown of Garda members assigned to each Division.
