The application referred to by the Deputy has been received but not yet registered on the system.

The Citizenship Division have advised that the naturalisation application was returned as it was incomplete and missing all the required documentation. Further documents have now been submitted and received.

When an application is returned, it is taken out of the queue for processing and will only rejoin the processing queue once the application has been updated and resubmitted by the applicant. It is important to note that the resubmitted application will rejoin the queue based on the date that it is resubmitted, not the date of the original application. As such, this application is awaiting further processing.

Once registered, a Personal ID and Citizenship application reference number will formally issue to the applicant. Applications are strictly being registered in chronological order.

Based on the current application levels, it is expected going forward that most straightforward applications based on residency will receive a decision within one year.

Applicants can use the Customer Service Portal to contact the Citizenship Division directly. The Customer Service Portal can be accessed at the following link: www.irishimmigration.ie.
