Citizenship ceremonies were first introduced in 2011 and have been very well received, marking the grant of Irish citizenship in a solemn, dignified, and appropriate manner.

Since Citizenship Ceremonies were first introduced, there has been a total of 222 Ceremonies (not including June 2026) with people from over 180 countries receiving their Certificate of Naturalisation. Minor applicants do not need to attend a Ceremony.

The table below outlines the number of ceremonies per year and the number of attendees.

In relation to the cost of each citizenship ceremony, it has unfortunately not been possible to collate the information requested by the Deputy in the time available. I will write to the Deputy directly once the information is to hand.
