Deputy Aindrias Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the number and proportion of staff who have completed AI-related training programmes since January 2024; the levels of training, introductory or advanced use; to confirm the associated expenditure on each level of training provided, by his Department and public body; and if he will make a statement on the matter. To ensure that staff possess a sufficient level of AI literacy, my department is providing mandatory training and actively managing compliance through a phased implementation strategy. This training commenced in June of 2025. The number of staff that have completed AI Introductory training is 2,314, representing 58% of the Department’s staff. To date there has been no expenditure on training.
