Martin Heydon Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Fine Gael

Supporting young farmers and promoting generational renewal are key priorities for my Department. The Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CIS-YF) is a targeted income support measure under Ireland's CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027. The scheme provides an annual payment to eligible young farmers and forms part of a wider package of supports designed to encourage generational renewal and support the long-term sustainability of the agricultural sector.

Attached is a breakdown in tabular form of the number of applicants approved for the scheme in each of the past three years; the total payments issued annually in each of these years; the average age of successful applicants and the county distribution of beneficiaries.

Total Figure for 2023.2024, 2025 Cisyf.
