The Irish Horticulture sector is the fifth largest sector in agriculture and plays a crucial role in supporting the economy. The farm gate value of the sector in 2025 was €652 million with an estimated 18,000 jobs at both primary and value-added levels.

The National Strategy for Horticulture 2023-2027 sets down a clear vision to grow a more profitable, value-added sector, driven by innovation and sustainability and provides a road map for the sector to achieve this potential. The Government provides significant support to deliver on the implementation of this Strategy for the sector, through a range of supports and initiatives underpinning its resilience, competitiveness and long-term sustainability.

The tables below set out the amounts paid and the number of growers and Producer Organisations supported under the various financial supports available to horticulture growers. 2026 details reflect payments to date and not budget allocations.
