Summary

The Minister referred the concerns about low-vision aids for 61 Offaly medical-card holders to the HSE for a direct response.

3130. Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Health if she has been informed that an organisation (details supplied) is working with 61 people in Offaly who are blind or vision impaired and who hold medical cards, most of whom require low vision aids; the steps she will take to ensure that these individuals are no longer forced to rely on charitable fundraising, personal payments running into hundreds of euro, or going without essential devices due to the capped HSE budget; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
