Medical Aids and Appliances

Summary

The Minister referred the request for nationwide consistency and uncapped low-vision aids funding to the HSE for a direct response.

3131. Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Health if she will provide a full breakdown of counties where low vision aids are funded through the GMS scheme without restriction; the reason the midlands counties, including Offaly, continue to operate a capped model that results in unmet need; and if she will commit to ensuring national consistency in the provision of low vision aids for people who are blind or vision impaired. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
