All aspects of mental health care, including CAMHS and CAMHS MHID, are being enhanced in line with implementation of Sharing the Vision 2020-2030, Connecting for Life 2026-2035 and the annual HSE Service Plans.
Government has provided record funding of nearly €1.6 billion for mental health in 2026. CAMHS receives approximately €191 million annually, an increase of almost 40% over the past four years. Under Budget 2026, €10 million was provided to enhance youth mental health services, including CAMHS-ID.
I am fully committed to the phased rollout of CAMHS-ID teams to provide fair and equal access to such services for young people. The HSE CAMHS-ID Model of Service recommends developing 16 CAMHS-ID multidisciplinary teams. There are now 10 CAMHS-ID teams nationally. There are 77.6 WTE posts funded for CAMHS ID teams nationally. I secured funding for 11 CAMHS-ID posts under Budget 2026 which will establish 2 new CAMHS ID teams and uplift existing services.
Development of teams continues on a phased basis, supported by ongoing investment under successive Budgets. While the HSE CAMHS ID Model of service specifies 11 WTE posts per team, to achieve national coverage quickly teams are being established initially comprising a Consultant Psychiatrist, a Senior Psychologist and a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
In addition, the HSE are developing a new Model of Care for ADHD in CAMHS which expect I to publish in the coming months.
I am committed to ensuring the continued enhancement of all areas of mental health care including CAMHS, and the areas identified by the Deputy will be considered in the context of Budget 2027 and agreeing the HSE Service Plan for next year.
