I propose to take Questions Nos. 3360, 3417 and 3418 together.

Dear Deputy Sherlock and Deputy Clarke,

On behalf of the Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, I would like to thank you for your correspondence.

The establishment of the Clinical Trials Advisory Council (CTAC) is a key commitment under the recommendations of the National Clinical Trials Oversight Group (NCTOG) and will play an important role in continuing the process of transforming the clinical trials landscape in Ireland.

An Expression of Interest process to appoint members to the Council has now concluded. My Department is in the final stages of establishing the new Council, with a view to convening the inaugural meeting of the Council as soon as possible.

Once established, the CTAC will provide strategic oversight and direction towards ensuring the recommendations developed by NCTOG are implemented in full.

I look forward to announcing the membership of the CTAC in due course and convening the inaugural meeting of the new Council in the near future.

Yours faithfully,

Private Secretary
