Deputy Pádraig O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health whether her Department monitors sales volumes of nicotine pouches in Ireland, in view of reports of an almost five-fold increase in sales of one manufacturer's products between 2023 and 2024; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As with other products such as tobacco and e-cigarettes, the focus of health-related data collection on nicotine pouches is prevalence, which is gathered via population health surveys. This allows analysis of use patterns among different groups, and can inform a policy response.
