Summary

The ICGP provided GP training graduate figures for 2022–2025, while 58 IMG GPs completed training and 111 were placed in practices by end-2025.

The Irish College of GPs (ICGP) is the postgraduate training body responsible for the training of GPs in Ireland. The ICGP has previously advised the below number of GP training graduates for the years requested:

Furthermore, a joint HSE and ICGP International Medical Graduate (IMG) Rural GP Programme commenced in 2023 to recruit GPs from outside of Ireland to work in general practice here. Under the programme, GPs work in general practice while undergoing a 2-year self-directed learning programme. Following successful completion of the programme, IMG GPs can register to the Medical Council's specialist register for general practice. As of end 2025, 58 IMG GPs had completed the 2-year programme with a further 111 IMG GPs placed in general practice.
