Hospital Services

Summary

The Minister referred concerns about Beaumont Hospital’s neurology and epilepsy services to the HSE for a direct response.

3716. Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Health the specific actions her Department is taking to address the extremely serious concerns regarding conditions within Beaumont Hospital's neurology and epilepsy services, including prolonged waiting times, overcrowded and unsuitable clinic spaces, inadequate staffing levels, poor communication between treating teams, and the absence of integrated care pathways for patients with complex neurological needs; if she will confirm whether her Department has carried out a recent assessment of the suitability of the physical infrastructure used for these clinics; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the deputy directly as soon as possible.
