4206. Deputy Cathal Crowe asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the total devolved grants allocated to each ETB, by ETB area in each of the years 2020 to 2026, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [57301/26]

The Devolved Capital and Green Devolved Capital Grants are allocated to individual Educational Training Boards (ETBs), in accordance with a model developed by SOLAS. The Devolved Capital Grant is to provide flexible capital funding to eligible further education institutions to support small-scale building works (including energy efficiency and decarbonisation related upgrades, health and safety works, access works, refurbishment etc.) and equipment purchase or renewal, including ICT.

The Green Devolved Capital Grant, introduced in 2024, aims to facilitate the ETBs in their delivery of energy efficiency and decarbonisation targets in FET buildings. This funding supports progress towards achieving the targets identified in the SEAI Building Register to enhance the operational sustainability of ETB-owned buildings within the FET estate, focusing on reduced energy consumption, improved energy efficiency, and lower carbon emissions.

In addition, my Department also provided a “Specific Purpose Grant” of c.€7 million in 2025 to support specific purpose projects which would enable ETBs to procure high-end equipment and support the expansion of the Skills to Advance Micro Qualifications for industry to multiple providers nationally. The Grant funded the upgrade of high-tech equipment to upskill and reskill staff in the biopharmaceutical and MedTech sectors and the procurement of specialist equipment to support the training, licensing, and upskilling of construction, green skills, and other sectors.
