487. Deputy John Lahart asked the Minister for Transport when the LUAS operations contract is up for renewal; if it has been renewed in the recent past; the person or body that has been the successful contractor; the changes this will mean for any in-house or contracted services such as cleaning and security; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Darragh O'Brien Minister for Transport Fianna Fáil

As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport. The Luas Contract is awarded jointly by the NTA and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). The day-to-day operation of the Luas is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

Noting the above position, I have referred your question to TII for a direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
